BASIC

Character Name: August Alders

Age: 19

Year:Freshman

Birthday: September 2, 1988

Major: Writing

PHYSICAL

Hair: Black hair, not due to the addition of artificial chemicals, August wears it semi long, about midway down his neck, though it’s not all the same length, in a choppy, shabby chic style, often tussled in the back, smoothed in the front.

Eyes: His eyes are a water-colour grey, white washed and exotically tilted, though that appearance is made possible by the use of angles and kohl. His best feature- at least by his standards- they appear exceedingly cold, and yet manage to stay out of the line of coldness. His eyebrows are arched, by some natural luck of maternal grace and tedious hours of plucking to trim them just right.

Clothes: Always one for fashion, he tends to remain in solid colours, particularly black and white, silks and sometimes pvc. Generally August wears a white dress shirt and black jacket, a fashion left over from his school boy days, leaving his exciting clothes of tight pants and fishnet and “scandalous” material for other events.

Weight: Of a slight build, he weighs about 10 stone.

Height: August stands 5’9.

Other characteristics: August has a tattoo of a star on his left wrist and he has the centre of his lip pierced

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Current Goal/Purpose: Currently, August wants to find his way through Uni, although he wouldn’t mind publishing something respectable or getting further with his band. Oh- and he’d like to make friends, something which he has effectively managed to fail at consistently.

Talents: He plays the keytar, something which he picked up a few years back and had actually managed to succeed quite well. Another talent he has is writing, which evidently, is a good thing, as that is what he is hoping to get a degree in. Other than that, August has the ability to make people uncomfortable, though perhaps in the arena of talents, it fails.

Inabilities: He has a hard time opening up to people, often finding it easier to wander around by himself or take solace other things. He also has a hard time with numbers, which results in lower marks, which tends to lower his self esteem for a time. And, he has the inability to express emotion very easily.

Fears: August fears being alone, on a grand scale. He is terrified of being without any of those who he currently counts important in his life. On a much lesser scale, August fears exams, not being accepted (which he seems to do to himself), as well as eating in public when he is by himself.

General Personality: Outwardly August can be seen as an aloof, cold, and nearly robotic. His inability to always express emotion oftentimes leaves him trapped in a bubble of mixed despair and self exclusion. However, to his friends he can be loud, outspoken, and blunt. To strangers though he is always highly courteous and kind, though not necessarily warm.

Inner Personality: Internally August is a puppy dog. He would do anything to make those he cares for happy, to the point of it being unhealthy to him and he is a creative spirit. Always concocting new ideas, he longs to express them but never seems to find the chance. Not as cold as he tries to be, August Alders struggles with a bleeding heart and sometimes periodic depression.

HISTORY

Family: The Alders family consists of a mother, Christine, a father, Adam, and three children- one of whom is dead. Christine is an at home mother since the family’s youngest child died four years earlier. Before that she was a school teacher in Greater London. Adam, coming from a family of money, worked for his father’s publishing company. August is the middle child, Ari was the youngest, and the oldest is Mark, who is currently a senior at London King’s College.

History: All in all August Alders had a normal childhood. Born in to a family of wealth, August never wanted for much and was doted on from the time he was a small child. Several times throughout his youth he was referred to as a girl by sadly mistaken, yet well meaning individuals. The family lived off Tottenham Court Road and he went to the same school where his mother taught down by the Thames, along with his brother Mark.

The two boys, close when they were young, went on holiday with their family all over Europe and the US, and their parents spared no expense on their education or enjoyment. Even though they were wealthy, the parents did not spend much time with their sons. When August was 8 his sister Ari was born and for a while the family was happy. However, Ari was diagnosed with lymphoma. Her condition, for a short time stabilized, soon declined rapidly and when August entered secondary school she died. He was heart broken, having always been very close to her, and at that time he let his affections dry up, as she was the only one who ever really returned affection in such a way.

That began a downfall for August and his family. He fell into a variety of bad habits- drinking, smoking, cutting. Blind to the havoc he was wrecking on his body, Christine and Adam did nothing. Mark however did notice, but he himself had fallen into disarray. The two boys dabbled in theft, drugs, and other such things on their own, however both kept up the guise of well groomed children throughout school and when graduation came, both finished in the top of their class.

Mark chose to stay in London, having always been closer to their parents, and August wanted to get as far away as possible, choosing instead ST.Aslepius University.
