Athens Macaulay: singer, social fuck up, rich, famous, gossip fodder.....figure skater? Athens kicked off the ice powerfully, twirling through the air. His skates sent a soft spray of ice through the air behind him, and for a moment he was the very picture of grace. It was too good to last of course, and as he came down his skates slipped out from under him and he wound up staring at the ceiling.
"Oof. Okay, so that sucked..."
He slowly peeled himself off the ice, shaking the loose bits from his blond hair and looking around to make sure no one saw. Good, the rink was still empty. He got unsteadily to his feet and brushed himself off. He didn't look at home on the ice, nor did he feel that way. His tight black jeans, dark red hoodie, and eyelinered eyes were far more suited to lurking around malls and highschools than figure skating. But oh well. It wasn't like anyone was going to kick him out for 'improper' dress. He was Athens Macaulay, after all.
As he began to skate again, it was obvious that he had no business even attempting to leap and twirl about. He was unsteady even skating around the perimeter of the rink. But that was no concern of his. If he was going to skate, he was damn well going to do tricks while he did it.
He hummed softly to himself as he skated around, his stride becoming steadier and more balanced. That is, until he heard the sound of a door opening and looked up, distracted. The moment of lost concentration proved deadly as he slammed right into the side of the arena, and wound up on his back again. Stars danced across his vision and he laughed quietly.
"Crap. I am soooo not cut out for this."
His vision blurred and swam a bit, so he stayed flat on his back, waiting for it to clear, though he could hear someone else stepping out onto the ice...
Sophia was one for adventures, and today's happened to be attempting to skate. As her first step out onto the ice was sturdy, as her other foot came to meet it, she wobbled a little bit. The girl was blissfully unaware that she had company, and begun to skate in a wide circle, slowly at first, then gaining speed. Sophie was good, and it seemed all those years had no effect on her talent.
It wasn't since she was eleven that she had last done this, but it returned to her quickly, and it showed. However, as she saw a figuresprawled out before her she came to an abrupt halt, standing over him. It was a familiar face to her, though little did she know it was not as familiar to her as she believed. Staring down at the boy, bundled up in a dark gray hoodie with a black and white striped scarf to top it all off, she put out her hand.
"Trying out silly things again are we, London?"
Since she had never met Athen's, it was hard to tell the difference between the two. Surely if she knew him as well as she did his twin, she'd have been able to see that he was not who she thought.
Athens blinked stupidly up at the girl for a long moment, his dark brown eyes expressionless as he studied her. She seemed cute, upbeat and friendly. Just the sort of person that London would associate with. His suspicions were confirmed when she mistook him for his younger brother. He stared at her for a bit longer. The mistake was an honest one, and one that both he and London took advantage of -which was the only reason he had dyed his hair bleach blond, and the only reason London had gotten snakebites. Usually people mistook London for him, since he was far more of a household name than his brother, but occasionally it went the other way as well.
"I am SO not London, sweetheart."
Athens pushed himself into a sitting position and looked up at the girl, a slight smirk on his pretty face. The two boys spoke in a similar manner, though Athens had a slightly deeper, smoother voice. He also spoke quieter than London, who tended to shout.
Carefully, he got to his feet, ignoring the offered hand. He was probably heavier than her, and would pull her down instead of the other way around.
"But perhaps I am trying silly things. I'm Athens Macaulay."
It was rare that Athens actually had to introduce himself to someone, and he actually liked the lack of prior knowledge. He held out his hand for her to shake, still studying her. His expression was friendly, but didn't offer much insight to his thoughts. He was careful with people, not wanting to open himself up more than he had to.
Her eyes wandered through his as he studied her, and before he even had to say anything, she knew she had mistook him for his brother. Indded the mistake was honest, but she had the feeling it wouldn't happen again. For a moment she wondered why they chose to look so alike as far as hair and piercings went, but she was perfectly fine just wondering and not asking.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry!"
The smirk he gave her made her cheeks haze to a light pink. Somehow as far as getting her flustered went, he had the same effect on her that London did. Only it was very much more noticable now. Since she didn't read tabloids and didn't exactly ask London about his brother, she was unsure of his sexuality, which was probably what made it easy to get worked up. His voice was different than his brothers, for sure, and Sophie could already tell that the two were probably more different than she could imagine at that point.
She drew her hand back as the boy rose, silently agreeing that he'd be too heavy for her. She looked up at him as he made his introduction. Time to make hers.
"I'm Sophia Meilo, it's my pleasure."
Sophia took the offered hand, shaking it with a little smile as she looked down and then back up into his eyes. Perhaps she forgot while her gaze was locked, but her hand remained in his for a minute before she let it slide out with a flustered "Oops!".
The girl was blushing. Oh dear god. Well as long as she kept her head screwed on straight and didn't do something stupid like falling for him, then he supposed that was fine. He wasn't interested in a relationship of anything more than friends. Not with anyone, and especially not with a girl. Unlike London, Athens was not blatantly, flamingly gay. But that certainly didn't make him straight. It just meant that the tabloids didn't know for sure whether he was or wasn't. Which suited him fine. It wasn't as if he was looking for that sort of thing anyways.
He didn't comment on the fact that she let her hand stay in his for just a bit too long. His etiquette was surprisingly well schooled -when he wasn't losing his temper- and he had the good grace to turn a blind eye. Her handshake was a pleasant one, soft, but firm. He liked her.
"Nice to meet you. How did you wind up to be friends with my lovely little brother?"
Truthfully, London was mere minutes younger than Athens. But the difference in mentality was great enough that sometimes it felt like years. Then again, sometimes it felt like years in the opposite direction as well, when London managed to pull a gem of bright-eyed wisdom out of who-the-hell-knows-where. But most of the time Athens felt older, and was, as such, the unofficial protector of London. If this girl was London's friend, then she was automatically in Athens' good books -though she'd have to prove herself before he truly trusted her.
Standing once more, he brushed the ice-dust from his body and stretched carefully to test for bruises. Wincing just a bit, he concluded that while he would have bruises and aches tomorrow, he had done no serious damage to himself.
