London Macaulay was a daydreamer. And a night dreamer. Really, he was just a dreamer. People always complained that he had his head in the clouds far too often, and that he needed to spend more time paying attention to real life. But really, who could blame him? Real life sucked. The only good part of real life was Athens. So he spent most of his time daydreaming. Somehow, he managed to pass classes and not get run over by busses.

He was dreaming now, dancing precariously along the railing of one of the bridges. In his mind, he was up on a stage, the crowd screaming below him while he sang into the imaginary microphone. So he wasn't as good a singer as Athens or his mother. He had charisma, damnit. The people adored him. And so the song he was singing was copywrited to Fall Out Boy. One day he'd have his own songs. If he ever did become famous for something other than being Athens' brother and Anne's son.

"I'm sleeping on your folk's porch again, dreaming
She said, she said, she said, "Why don't you just drop dead?"

I don't blame you for being you
But you can't blame me for hating it
So say, what are you waiting for?
Kiss her, kiss her
I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late"

He leaped up in the air, absorbed in his song and his air guitar. As he came back down, his foot landed on the railing, and in a characteristic display of clumsiness, he lost his balance and fell off. He landed with a loud splash, swallowing a gulp of water in his astonishment as he went under. He floundered rather pathetically until he finally broke the surface again. His eyes were wide, mascara and eyeliner streaking down his cheeks. Helplessly, he clung to the edge to the bridge, coughing and laughing his head off.

Beneath the near hysterical laughter and the hacking attempts to clear water from his lungs was a pleading hope that someone would come along and rescue him, and he was laughing too hard to pull himself back onto the bridge.

Sophia was always one for a stroll, be it any time of day. She needed inspiration, and while usually she was able to attain it, her method seemed not to be working that night. She tugged at her hair in frustration, she needed a new piece, and it needed to be good. The difference was, this time she needed a painting and not a design. The girl wracked her brain in search of some small light, one tiny ounce of hope but nothing seemed to dawn on her.

She stopped near the bridge, smiling when she saw who it was; London. Sophia stared up at him, and as he performed for what seemed to be only her that night she dared not disturb him. He was really cute, and though she wasn't sure whether he would have done this had he known she was there, she was happy to see it nonetheless.

Sophie let out a silent gasp as he leaped up, almost forseeing what was to happen next. As he slipped, she reached out, but she was much to far away to be able to do anything. As the water splashed, she ran over to him, rolling her eyes and smiling when she saw that he was laughing. "It's not very wise to go acting like a rock star when all you have is a railing and not a stage..." She put her hand out, but water on the bridge made her slip as she stepped forward, herself ending up in the water behind London.

London's face lit up with an even wider smile when he saw his friend running towards him. Sophie was a sweetheart, and London really liked spending time with her. Sometimes he felt guilty because he knew that she had feelings for him that he would never return, but mostly he just pretended that he didn't know. She could do so much better than him anyways. Though he didn't want to know what she would say if he said that out loud.

"Sophieeeee!"

London squealed with laughter when the girl slipped and fell into the water beside him, and reached out with one hand to pull her towards the bridge so she could hang on too, and they could both wait for someone to rescue them. He wasn't sure if she could swim or not, but he himself was not a strong swimmer. So he dangled off the bridge and laughed at himself.

"On the contrary my love, what if my intentions all along were to have an impromptu bath? The water is quite lovely tonight."

He managed to hold the serious expression on his face for about five seconds before he burst into laughter once more.

"And really, the fans love me honey. What could be better than me, except me soaking wet? You know it's the hottest thing you've ever seen."

He stuck his tongue out at her, then winked. This sort of teasing spilled from his lips no matter who he was with. Most people just rolled their eyes and ignored it once they realized that he wasn't arrogant, just having fun.

As she was pulled to the bridge, by that time she was laughing too. Sophie clung to the bridge right next to London, staring at him as if he were the most ridiculous person on the face of the earth. She knew that his romantic interests were far off from her, but she never seemed to mind. Her friendship with him was more important to her, which made her happy that she considered him more a friend than a romantic interest.

"Well, if that was your plan, then you shouldn't have been dancing up on the rail to begin with. What you should have done was jump right in!"

She too stayed serious, but couldn't help but laugh when he did. London had that effect on her, his laughter was contageous. Not that she minded, this seemed like the perfect idea of having fun to her.

"Oh yes London! I can't even control myself!"

Sophie leaned over, kissing him all over his cheek. When she was quite done, she laughed once more. The water was nice, not too cold, and she actually didn't mind if they remained there for awhile.

"But...I might just be hotter. Look out London, I think I'm your competition."

She smiled softly at him, but it was more like a smirk.

"Where's the fun in that!? Geez, Soph. If I'm going to have a bath, I might as well do it in style."

London flicked his wrist expressively, grinning at her. He knew full well how flamboyant he was. He was the sort of boy that people could look at for five seconds and they would immediately know he was gay. Which didn't bother him in the slightest, although sometimes it irked Athens.

He giggled and spluttered when Sophie mauled him with kisses, though he really didn't mind at all. He was a sucker for any sort of affection, and kisses from a girl were no exception. Any other boy might have blushed, but not him. There wasn't much that could make him blush though.

"Sophie, darling. Do try to control yourself. I mean really, what would the public think? We can't have people thinking I'm straight. That just wouldn't do."

He gestured expansively at the empty lake, then stuck his tongue out at her. He splashed her playfully, dark eyes studying her as she commented that she might be hotter than him. Really, she was quite pretty. If not for the fact that he was gay, he might have been attracted to her. It was too bad, because they would have made a nice couple. London grinned, and shoved those thoughts away, deep down until he forgot about them. Life was a better place if you didn't think too hard about anything. Even better if you didn't think at all.

"Yes Dear, you just might be. But I'm famous, so that gives me an advantage."

He grinned again. Never mind that he was only famous for being Anne Jenison's daughter and Athens Macaulay's twin. He still had his face in the tabloids, sometimes even for his own escapades. Fame was fame, no matter what it was for.

"Oh dear you are right! It would cause quite the scandal if they saw me kissing you, now wouldn't it? Ha, that almost makes me want to kiss you more, but I shall refrain."

She smiled brightly, only slightly laughing, coughing up a little bit of water as well. Sophie wasn't really sure what she thought about that statement herself. Of course she was going on, but she usually said whatever came to mind, be it harsh or kind. She wasn't too secretive, and had an open mind. That was just how things should be, or so she thought. People should be okay with things, even though they rarely actually were.

As he splashed her , she gasped, her mouth hanging open for a few moments before she splashed him back. Laughing, she looked at him, into his eyes, falling silent as she gazed. She'd forgotten that she hadn't discussed alot of things with London, and something made her want to right then. However, she spoke first, and fun always came before being serious by any degree.

"Well as long as I get to be hot too, I'll allow you to have the advantage!"

Sophia smiled. London was so...she couldn't really describe him without beginning a monologue. But thats just how it was.

"You know, I'm not all that straight...I actually...my first relationship was with a woman."

There it was, she'd opened up a little. It was odd to her, but almost a relief. Almost.

A witty reply was right on the tip of London's tongue when Sophie's gaze met his and locked there. He blinked in surprise, then stilled, unable to do anything but stare back. It was completely unnerving, to be held by someone's gaze. Usually, he was in constant motion, and it was near impossible to even meet his dark eyes full on. He avoided eye-contact like the plague, so it was a not-so-pleasant shock to find himself staring right into Sophie's eyes.

The effect was so great on him that he almost began to tremble, his mouth going slightly slack. It was terrifying for him. Made even more so by the thought that she just might try to kiss him again. He knew that if it came down to it, he wouldn't bother to resist her attempts, and he really didn't want to hurt her.

"Okay..."

Usually, London's sentences were full of energy and flamboyant words, in part to detract from the seriousness of anything he found himself in. He disliked serious conversation, because more often than not it forced him to really look at himself, and he never liked what he saw. So he avoided looking. This though, was just awkward. To him, sexuality was the farthest thing from a big deal, so he didn't know what to say to her. He could sense that for her, this was a huge moment, and he felt the pressure not to screw it up acutely.

"Well then Darling, you are the lucky one! Being bi doubles your options! Just think of the fun you can have!!"

And with that, he tore his gaze away from hers, though he was still more or less stuck, hanging off the bridge. His arms were tiring, but he didn't trust his ability to swim. So he hung.

Sophie both noticed and didn't notice that is was awkward for London to be straing back at her. In that silence she could hear so many sounds, or perhaps she should have been able to her. Somehow in that moment that didnt matter, and she couldn't even tell that she was half submerged in water.

As London hesitantly began to talk, she finally blinked, somehow snapping slightly back into reality. Not quite, seeing as how she was still watching London's eyes.

The girl could always tell that London wasn't one for serious conversation, but that never stopped her from being serious. Even if his responses were loud and flamboyant, Sophia never seemed to mind. His words were never awkward to her, and he was about the only person who didn't ruin a mood by being that way. It was never about her being ashamed that she like women as well as men, just usually she didn't want to tell anyone about Anelle. Ever.

His response made her smile, and it was a relief that it did so.

"Well that's the problem! I have too much fun with it!"

As he finally looked away from her, her smile shrunk, but remained. Her gaze lingered for a moment before she too looked away.

"And you know I like you. But you know...I'm okay with you not being able to return the sentiments. Getting people to like me, it was never a problem. I'd be with people, and break their hearts in a cycle. And now, when I met you, it was odd. I knew you were gay from the second I met you, but that somehow didn't stop me from liking you. I think in a way liking you is needed for me. You are unattainable to me. It's quite a difference from what I'm used to. A nice difference."
